It also examines children’s participation in decision-making in Serbia, highlighting the challenges in creating an inclusive environment. Using a mixed-method approach, it gathers perspectives from 55 children through questionnaires and eight children through focus groups, alongside inputs from decision makers, stakeholders, and NGOs involved in child rights promotion and protection. Developed in collaboration with Right Livelihood and supported by Global Campus South-East Europe.
Wherever we go, Someone does us Harm (2022)
Save the Children and the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Sarajevo (GC South East Europe) present in-depth research into the level and types of violence that children experience while attempting to reach Western Europe via the Balkans route, the circumstances of that violence, and the policies and practices that exist to support children. They also make recommendations for governments, NGOs and other stakeholders to strengthen the protection and support available to these children. The research was conducted in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, key transit countries. It is based on in-depth interviews with 48 children aged between 13 and 19 years old.
Child Participation in Development Frameworks in Africa (2022)
To which extent are children involved in the implementation of development frameworks in Africa? This study seeks to promote and increase public awareness on the importance of applicable processes of ensuring child participation in national, regional and global development initiatives in Africa. The research methods include a desk-based review of existing regional platforms of child participation and a child-focussed consultation with children to establish the extent of children’s knowledge, understanding and involvement in the implementation of development frameworks at the national, sub-regional and regional levels. Published by the University of Pretoria (GC Africa).

The Study investigates the conditions under which children are deprived of liberty, focusing on contexts such as juvenile justice, migration, and family detention. It highlights the scale of the issue, inform policy recommendations, and promote alternatives to deprivation of liberty. Strategic Litigation (2022)
Child rights strategic litigation (CRSL) is litigation that seeks to bring about positive legal and/or social change in terms of children’s enjoyment of their rights. This report emerges from the Advancing Child Rights Strategic Litigation
(ACRiSL) project, a three-year global research collaboration bringing together partners from advocacy and academia to work on child rights strategic litigation. A key aim of this work is to support and contribute
in a meaningful way to the work of practitioners, advocates and others working in the area of CRSL, and strengthen existing CRSL efforts to advance children’s rights.
Human Rights Activists' Skills (2024)
In 2024, Right Livelihood Laureates and alumni virtually met to lead roundtable discussions on human rights-related skills. The exchange aimed to share tools, skills, and strategies used by Laureates and Alumni from various continents to achieve goals, overcome challenges, and bring about change. Topics covered include grassroots advocacy for environmental protection, LGBTQ+ community campaigns, community empowerment through solidarity, and gender movements. This publication intends to provide guidance for those working in human rights, social justice, and climate justice.
The GC Child Participation Model (2022)
This resource pack was developed for the Global Campus online Child-led Conference on Mental Health
in 2022, organised in partnership with the Kathmandu School of Law in Nepal (GC Asia Pacific member). 121 children, organised in regional teams (from Syria/Lebanon, Armenia, Ecuador, India, South Africa, Nepal, Chile, Brazil), made the conference possible, playing a pivotal role in designing and directing the activities. This resource suggests three building blocks to drive a child-led participatory process with adult facilitation and support.
Well-being in Armenian schools (2024)
The attitude towards mental health in Armenia changed dramatically in 2014 when the development and adoption of a strategy based on new ideas and principles were launched. Lamentably, these processes were accompanied by disasters at the global and local levels: COVID, war, and security and existential problems. Given the impact of all this on children, the role of schools in maintaining and developing children’s mental health has become a priority. This study attempts to look at the described situation, the role of the school, and the functions of a psychologist through the eyes of children as direct beneficiaries.
The Digitalisation of Education Systems (2024)
This series of policy briefs focuses on the digitalisation of education systems and its impact on human rights, especially the right to education. It presents a multidisciplinary study combining qualitative and quantitative analysis across various regions (Southeast Asia, Europe and South East Europe, Caucasus, Latin America, Africa, and MENA). It delves into how digital technologies affect the right to education, outlines emerging trends and practices, and offers integrated recommendations for policies and practices, grounded in a human rights-based approach.
Children Deprived of Liberty in the Administration of Justice (2022)

It was based on the UN Study on Children Deprived of Liberty that provides an overview of the situation of children deprived of liberty worldwide and sets out clear recommendations for change and includes positive examples from a range of countries.
Child Rights Strategic Litigation (2022)
In recent years, Child Rights Strategic Litigation (CRSL) related to climate justice has surged globally. The Key Principles for Climate Justice Litigators from the ACRiSL Project—a three-year global research initiative—offer guidance on integrating child rights into climate litigation. Based on insights from litigators across four continents and engagements with young people, these principles address four key stages: case scoping and design, litigation execution, follow-up and implementation, and extra-legal advocacy.
