Visiting Researchers
The Global Campus of Human Rights welcomes researchers interested in human rights and democratisation to conduct their research at its premises in Venice.
The experience
Applications are welcome on a rolling basis! Research stays typically range from 1 to 6 months. Visiting Researchers are expected to secure their own funding for the duration of their stay in Venice.
They are encouraged to actively participate in the intellectual and educational life of the Global Campus, including the Venice School of Human Rights, training and courses, research outputs, the Global Campus Human Rights Journal, the Human Rights Preparedness Blog, and conferences depending on the scheduled stay.
Whenever possible, Visiting Researchers are also encouraged to contribute to our Venice-based Master’s programme—the European Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation (EMA). Contributions may include offering guest lectures, writing articles for GC publications, sharing expertise with students, participating in webinars, co-organising events, or giving presentations.
Benefits
For the purpose of conducting research, the Global Campus offers the following benefits:

- Networking with a wide range of renowned academics, experts, diplomats, and human rights defenders from all regions of the world who regularly contribute to GC activities

Application procedure

Selection
In selecting Global Campus Visiting Researchers, we will give priority to scholars from the Global South, as well as to scholars at risk of persecution who have been forced to leave their countries and academic institutions.
The final decision on each candidate will be made by the GC Secretary General, in consultation with the GC Academic Director and the GC Research Manager.
