For many of them, this prestigious event is a well-deserved moment of joy after years and decades of hard and courageous work. The latest annual Award Presentation took place on 2 December 2025 in Stockholm, Sweden. The event aimed to inspire people attending and tuning in from around the world to recognise the 2025 Right Livelihood Laureates.

Nominations
Do you know any courageous and innovative change-makers who strive to create a more just, peaceful and sustainable world for those around them? Nominations for the Right Livelihood Award are fully open to the public and can be submitted through the online form below. Nominations are accepted in English, French and Spanish and can be submitted until January 16.
Below is an overview of how nominations are reviewed and how Laureates are selected each year.
Deadline
To be considered for the current year, nominations must be submitted by January 16, 2026 via online form.
Confidentiality
Nominators and nominees must keep all nominations confidential. Publicly sharing the nomination will make the nominee ineligible for the selection process.
Contact with nominees
After a nominator submits their part of the form, their research team contacts the nominee directly to gather further information.
Consent and “do no harm”
All nominees must consent to being considered for the Award. For nominees who are imprisoned, consent may be provided by a family member or lawyer.
Jury meeting
The Right Livelihood international Jury meets each August to select the recipients. Laureates are then announced at a press conference in Stockholm, with the Award Presentation later in the year 2026.
